Cotton and Corduroy

creating a handmade home

Hi! I'm Hannah, and I'm so excited you found {cotton and corduroy}!

my sewing story

As it is for many, sewing is something my mom and grandma taught me – yet it’s a skill that I didn’t fully appreciate or develop until I had children. At the time, we were living in a place where cute clothes were hard to come by, and I found myself creating and sewing for them often. It was a good way to fill some hours when the days with a toddler and a baby got long, and family seemed particularly far away.

When it came time for us to return to Illinois, I was surprised to discover that my love for sewing survived the move and followed me into a new stage of life! Cotton & Corduroy began with a sweet little squirrel applique sweatshirt, and today it is a place where I design and sew unique product lines twice a year - all from my home studio, in between raising three precious children.  I feel so blessed.

the clothes I make

I love to make classic clothing with clean and simple lines, but I often use textured fabrics and a mix of patterns and prints to add interest. As a mommy, I value versatility and quality - I appreciate children's clothing that can be washed lots of times and worn lots of ways. So that's the type of clothing that I create - pants, dresses, tees, sweatshirts, and accessories that are both unique and functional!

Thank you so much for stopping by and spending a little time here! I'm honored by your interest, and I hope that Cotton & Corduroy is a place where you can find exactly what you're looking for in children's clothing. I'm so blessed by this opportunity to sew for you.

If you are one of the many, many people who have provided their business expertise, opinions and constructive criticism, and sweet encouragement - I am so grateful to each of you. I could not do this without you. A huge thank-you also to the creators of the patterns I use: Brindille & Twig, Nap-Time CreationsMama Says Sew , GoToPatterns, Climbing the Willow, Oliver & S, The Sewing Rabbit, and The Cottage Mama. These women enable others to create and sew in amazing ways, and I have learned so much from reading their work!

I'm grateful above all to God, my Creator and Heavenly Father - He never fails, always provides, and gives me grace far beyond what I deserve.
